An occupational accident is an unexpected incident that occurs during or in connection with the performance of official duties.It can result in personal injury, permanent disability or even death.These can be falls, injuries with machinery, poisoning, electric shock and others.In Bulgaria, legislation provides for special measures to protect workers in such incidents.One of these measures is compulsory occupational accident insurance.It is usually concluded in enterprises whose economic activity has a level of occupational trauma that is equal to or higher than the average for the country.This includes sectors such as construction, manufacturing, transport.However, the insurance can also be taken out simply if the employer decides to take out „Occupational accident“for all employees.It covers the medical expenses necessary to recover the victim, provides financial support in case of temporary and permanent disability, and in case of a fatal accident, the insurance provides financial compensation for the victim's family.
